White Corpuscle Story

Back in the 1960’s I was a student in college, active in a religious ministry on campus. We had several vesper services per week with 1/2 hour talks given by various speakers.

One of those talks was given by a biology professor from the University of the South, in Swanee, Tennessee, which has stuck with me ever since.

He told us that through the microscope he watched a white corpuscle cell explore a blood vessel. It had come to a branching off place in the vessel to which the white cell had to “choose” which branch to go into next.

He said he watched it form one foot at a time to explore each branch. It started down one branch, but then changed its “mind” and came back and went down the other branch.

It clearly was alive and “thinking” by the ability given to it by its creator! That blew my mind – how could that be !?!?

Our God is full of mysteries and wonders; may His name be ever praised and glorified! Amen!

Here is a link to a video showing this happening as a white corpuscle (neutrophil) chases down a piece of bacteria in the blood vessel : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hYirwZVQNI
